As the seasons change, trends come and go, and this gives us the ideal excuse to give some new looks a go and revamp our wardrobes. As spring/summer approaches with speed, it’s time to think about what’s hot and what’s not, and cool jewels are a fantastic place to start.
When you’re putting an outfit together, your ears probably aren’t your priority. That is, until spring arrives, and you learn to embrace the ornate ears trend. This season, it’s all about decorating your ears in dripping jewels, gemstones, and precious metals. The catwalks featured a range of looks, including statement chandelier earrings, masculine cuffs, and even mismatched styles. Several designers adorned their models with one show-stopping dangly earring teamed with a simple stud or a cuff on the other. Some also featured a single earring with tiered designs and shoulder-length pieces proving very popular. Piercings on the upper ear and the tragus also featured heavily.
Adding a necklace can make all the difference to an outfit, and this is particularly true of this season’s new breed. The 90’s revival has been and gone, so it’s time to tidy those chokers away until next time. Now, it’s all about long chains featuring pendants, charms, and all the sparkle you could imagine. As well as old favorites like emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and diamonds, you’ll also find plenty of minerals around. Christopher Kane, Marni, and Givenchy featured raw gemstones in their catwalk shows. The crucifix has also returned to the catwalks. Team crosses made from crystals and minerals with gladiator-style belts and cuffs for a modern take on rustic styling.
Wristwear has had a serious update since the days of wearing a watch or a couple of bangles. Arm cuffs, hand chains, and robust bracelets are big for 2017. If you’re going bold on your arms and wrists, keep it simple on your fingers, and avoid stacking rings. Jewelers like Tacori have some stunning, understated designs, if you can’t bear the thought of going out without at least one ring. If you’re in the market for a new watch, rose gold is a perfect choice for the warmer, brighter months.
Spring is usually synonymous with feminine shades and floaty styles, but when it comes to jewelry, tough love was the look du jour for some designers. Celebrate your gothic side with a spiked ear stud or a necklace made from industrial looking bolts and pins. You can combine masculine pieces with delicate fabrics like chiffon and silk to add texture and interest and create an eclectic, unique look.
If you’re a fashion fan, you’ll understand the importance of accessorizing. Using accessories, you can create a host of different looks using the same items of clothing, and bring your look up to date without forking out for a complete wardrobe makeover. If you’re looking for style inspiration for spring/summer 2017, and you’re keen to add some cool jewels to your collection, look no further. Have fun shopping!
