Not too long ago I traveled from Leeds to the DoubleTree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa & Golf in Lincolnshire. It’s about an hours drive from the centr of Leeds and incredibly easy to get to! It’s just far away from Leeds enough that it’d feel like a real break if I took a couple nights off to relax.

The Forest Pins Spa hotel opened officially in November this year. The 188-room hotel boasts gourmet cuisine and an award-winning 27-hole championship golf course. Golf not your thing? There’s also a spa!
The hotel is located on the outskirts of Scunthorpe, a large industrial town in North Lincolnshire, and is within easy reach of Lincoln and Grimsby. Nature is just a stone’s throw away for guests, with the beautiful countryside and nearby Pink Pig Farm – a farm park with indoor and outdoor children’s play areas, as well as the Yorkshire Wildlife Park – making the hotel the ideal location to explore everything Scunthorpe and its neighbouring towns have to offer.

Not only is the hotel stunning, but they opened in style with a Christmas-spectacular that made it more than worth the drive.

First up was an incredible ballet performance by the Fireflies whilst we waited for the buffet to open. The dancers were so talented, it was pretty magical to watch.

When the buffet opened, I, of course, made a beeline for it and everything I ate was delicious! It was more elevated that standard buffet food, with creative dishes. I tried a little of everything and didn’t dislike a thing!
I have to say, the dessert performance stole the show. It was an amazing performance

It really was something else… but it tasted even better! I actually think it’s some of the best dessert food I’ve had in a while. They had everything from pastry to chocolate and marshmallows all executed perfectly. Marshmallows may not be what you expected – but my god they were amazing. They’d been flavored like peppermint candy canes and I wish I took a few with me!
After gorging myself on dessert and cocktails, we headed to the lounge to listen to music with a live saxist playing along to some classic house songs. The sax/DJ set-up are known as The Organic Jam and tied off a great evening nicely.

Oh! I didn’t mention, I also got a lovely hand massage from some of the Spa staff. It was well needed after a day of typing away at work. The products smelled great and the staff
