Halloween is one of my favourite times of year – sweets, dressing up, scary stories and pumpkins. What is not to love.

This year, I decided for my first pumpkins of the month instead of cutting them up, I’d paint them to make decorative displays, that are seasonal and I can keep around for a little longer than Halloween.this is halloween gif nightmare before christmas

I grabbed a few cans of Rust-Oleum’s amazing peelable paint. I think it’s such a great idea and thought – why not paint my pumpkins… plus as time goes on and we get closer to the end of October I can just peel the paint off and make a new design (or eat ’em). I do want to have a go at making some pumpkin pie, so at least now I don’t have to deal with the pulp and can just wash and peel the paint off once I’m ready.

My first pumpkin was a white Ghost pumpkin from Morrisons. I first gave the pumpkin a light spray with white peelable paint, to give it an even one. Next, I sprayed about half od the pumpkin with silver paint, followed by a third with black paint. Whilst wet, I lightly dabbed at the paint with a sponge.

I sprayed a little more white on top, dabbing it with the sponge to blend the colours together. Finally, before drying I added a little glitter (of course), then once fully dry, I used a sharpie to draw little stars on the pumpkin.

For the smaller orange pumpkin, I wanted to make it feel more autumnal. I sprayed it with red peelable paint, left it to dry till tacky and dabbed a little extra orange paint here and there. Then using the wet orange paint as ‘glue’ I COVERED IT IN GLITTER.

The paint does actually peel off pretty easily and has that satisfying feeling of peeling dried glue from something (you all did it at school). It’s easy to use and has a beautiful high-shine finish – give it go!

This is Halloween kids, and its fabulous.
