Autumn definitely has to be a contender for one of the best seasons. As the temperature plummets, we all naturally start to think about packing away our strappy summer dresses and looking for chic pieces that will keep the chill off and ensure we look fabulous. There are some new autumn wardrobe essentials that are sure to keep us looking glam despite the wind and rain. Here are a few of them:
The Camel Coat
It’s been in and out of fashion more times than I can count, but the simple camel coat is back with a vengeance this Autumn. It’s classic shape and colour, and it’s almost unbeatable warmth ensure that it’s a smart investment you’ll be able to wear not only this autumn and winter but for many years to come.
The classic satchel, which you can see some great examples of at The Cambridge Satchel Company, is simple, stylish and sophisticated. It also happens to complement the camel coat particularly well, but more importantly, it can carry all of your essentials and keep them safe from the rather unpredictable weather we have here in the autumn.
The Military Look
If you’re looking for everyday utilitarian pieces that can be worn in even the worst of the autumn weather, and which will enable you to look effortlessly chic, you’ll love this season’s trend for military separates. Get your Khaki on with a buttoned army blouse or warming military jacket, or even a never out of fashion parka and you will be guaranteed to look amazing!
The Simple Sweater
If you want to stay warm and look cute, a visit to The Sweater Shop certainly won’t go amiss. This season, you’ll be able to get away with both fitted sweaters, and baggier ‘boyfriend’ styles and both will have the same effect of making you look cute as a button without having to get too dressed up. However, the more fitted sweater is better for formal situations and if you want to accentuate your figure, whereas the oversized sweater is great for casual walks in the park and weekday evenings spent around the pub fire.
The knee-high boot should never go unappreciated when the weather starts to cool down, and puddles become more of an issue. To get the best bang for your buck, go for a classic pair of leather knee-highs in either black or brown or if you want to be a bit more on-trend’ choose a pair that have fringe detailing or a block heel.
The Leather Jacket
Another perennial, the leather jacket is going to be big news this autumn, so if you don’t already have one ( I mean really?) now is the time to take the plunge and choose your perfect piece. Bombers are pretty popular right now, so if you can pull them off, that might be a good choice. Otherwise, a classic biker or blazer-style teamed with jeans and boots will undoubtedly look great.
