The living room is, without a doubt, one of the most-used parts of any home. Apart from the kitchen, it’s one of the main social “hubs” of any place. As you can imagine, there’s a lot of foot traffic going in and out living rooms.

After a while, your once pristine living room could start to look tired and in need of a renovation. Some people might do major alterations to their living rooms. But, what happens if you’ve not got much cash spare, or you’re renting your home?

Give your walls and ceiling a lick of paint

Yes, I know: paint is messy! Well, it can be if you rush the job and don’t take care! But, if you take your time, the only places that will have paint will be your ceiling and walls! The paint you select will depend on the colour and brand you choose. Farrow & Ball paint is lovely, but it costs a fortune!

Create a feature wall using wallpaper

Do you have a fireplace in your living room? Even if you don’t, it doesn’t matter because you can still create a feature wall!  Use patterned wallpaper to add a point of interest, you can even find removable options if you need to take it down after leaving your home.

Get some new carpet fitted

If you want to make a bit impact, carpets and flooring are a good choice. Obviously, this depends if you can make changes to your current home but if you can, give your floors a bit of TLC. If you can’t go that far, invest in a carpet or floor cleaner and get a nice rug!

Art

Blank walls can easily be made a little more interesting with art. Photos, canvas, posters anything that makes a plain wall a little less dull!
