A new look Jessops will opened in Leeds not too long ago. I went along on the opening day (right at the end, cheers to Simon the store manager for putting up with me!). Traditional printshops are few and far between and I love a good print. It’s nice to do something with your favourite photos – we’re all so used to taking pictures on our phones, memories can get lost in those 80 selfies you took for that one good picture. ;)

The new look store is about encouraging you to be more creative with your photos, printing them on anything from cushions and canvases to make-up bags, notebooks, aprons and puzzles. I bought my first camera in this store about 10 years ago, so it’s nice to see it with a fresh look. The store has a much more print-driven feel, but not in the way of just developing your holiday snaps from pretty much anything pre-2000. It’s more about using these photos to create physical memories, gifts and even decor for your home.

Scott Worger, Retail Director of Jessops says: “More than 95 million photos are uploaded to Instagram each day, yet we keep forgetting to print them.

Our Leeds store will now essentially be ‘split’ into two; half will feature interactive displays of the hardware offering one might expect from Jessops and the other will focus on gifting and printing.

For many, one of the most thoughtful and sentimental gifts you can receive is a favourite photo presented beautifully in a frame. It is this idea that lies at the very heart of our new store concept. We are incredibly excited about the reopening.”

The new shop in Leeds offers a huge range of products; from quirky colourful frames and smart-looking albums to a fun selection of personalised gifts that you can, quite literally, print your face on. The focus is on artistic fun with photos.

I was lucky enough to get to try the new Jessops shuffleprint. I chose 13 photos from my last trip to Haarlem, Holland. I uploaded from my phone via Bluetooth, then was given the option to keep the order the program created or re-shuffle!

I liked that the shuffleprint is one single photo rather than several fiddly photos, making it easy to switch out the print without the need for a new frame. I think my cat is mad I didn’t pick one with him on it though…

I have to say the staff are lovely and helpful if you need a hand with anything – it’s worth checking out if you’re struggling with gift ideas!
